Every Day is Your Birthday

May 16, 2018

Most of us remember to celebrate our birthdays with plenty of fanfare and self-loving indulgences. But why don't we observe every day as though it were the most important day of the year, with us at the center of it all? Why not treat every day as our birthday?

You may recall a scene from the beloved children's movie, Alice in Wonderland, where the heroine encounters several eccentric characters celebrating their "un-birthdays," singing a song with great gusto:

Now, statistics prove, prove that you've one birthday

Imagine, just one birthday every year

Ah, but there are three hundred and sixty four unbirthdays!

Precisely why we're gathered here to cheer!

What these un-birthday merrymakers understand is that every day is magical and worth celebrating; every day, the universe and all of nature surrounds you with unconditional love, gifts, and support, just as your friends and family do on your birthday. That every day, you are worth honoring and lavishing with utmost love and care. Because as far as the universe is concerned, each day of your life can be and is "your day", where you feel completely free to do whatever brings you maximum joy and celebration of self. How amazing life would be!

So try spending every un-birthday as your birthday, commemorating the wondrous fact of your unique existence. Every morning, choose to wake up celebrating that every day is an incredible gift. If you do, your life can and will completely change.
