"Letting It Go" With the Help of Autumn Energy

Beginning on October 23rd, we've entered the last phase of fall according to the Lunar calendar, or shuāng jiàng (霜降), translated as "frost descent." The earliest phase of winter is fast approaching, officially starting on November 6th.

In the Northeast, most of the leaves have changed color, their beautiful display celebrating a good year's harvest. The wind helps the trees let go, playfully tossing their leaves, one by one, to rejoin the earth at their journey's end. These changes in Nature remind us that no matter what, you must constantly let go to receive new blessings in life. Like the trees, can you have faith that if you let go of the old, you, too, will receive new gifts ahead?

It's inevitable, even normal, that we feel sadness and grief while letting go. One can support the healthy processing of these emotions by taking care of your Lung and Large Intestine, the organs that are associated with the seasonal energy of fall. According to Five Element Theory, having a good cry, eating spicy foods, wearing white, and listening to drumming music are some simple yet effective ways to energetically stimulate these organs. By doing so, you can best harmonize with Nature and peacefully release what you no longer need, to make room for the new.

We hope you find peace and acceptance as you prepare for winter and the last several months of 2024.
